"For a long time, I thought I could effect change within the NRA best from the outside. After observing both stages of the New York trial, I came to the conclusion that changes could not be left to either the NRA establishment nor to a well-intentioned judge in the New York trial. It became time for me to step up and take a stand, by running for the Board. It goes without saying that the NRA needs to get its finances in order, and it needs to be a nimbler, leaner, less bureaucratic organization that concentrates on training, outreach, and, most importantly, advocacy for the Second Amendment. I want to see the NRA cooperate - not compete - with other 2A organizations. I have seen in my home state of NC how the NRA killed permit-less concealed carry because they didn’t write the bill. Moreover, when a leader in a national gun rights organization notes he never sees ILA lobbyists in the halls of Congress, you know something is wrong. This must stop! Cooperation means a more efficient use of resources and will allow the NRA to expand its reach in both 2A litigation and advocacy."
