Jim Porter has been an avid supporter of the NRA and supporter of the 2^nd Amendment for his entire career up until 2019, when he stepped away due to NRA’s mismanagement.

However, prior to 2019, Mr. Porters is an NRA Past President (2013-2015), long time Chair of Legal Affairs committee and a founding Trustee of the NRA Foundation. He served two 2-year terms as President of the NRA Foundation and was the Interim Executive Director.  Mr. Porter was the founder of the Hunters Leadership Forum and the founding chair of the Insurance Oversight Committee.

As President of the NRA. he headed up the successful NRA initiative to flip the US Senate in 2014 and was founder of the NRA Industrial Relations Task Force. As a litigator, he successfully defended the firearms industry rom frivolous nuisance lawsuits.
