"Along with millions of others, I have always honored my association with what was considered the number one grassroots protector of our Constitutional Rights, the NRA.

Therefore, I am running for the BOD because I want the NRA to regain its prestigious past that was lost in the scandal. There is no reason to dwell on that past; we must look toward the future. The future under Donald Trump in the next two years can be a time for advancement and regrowth of the NRA as an Organization. We are looking at a new world, a society that is laced with fear, the possibility of war, terrorism, and a past deceitful and threatening central government. President Trump has brought up the possibility of National Constitutional Carry or reciprocity. As a member of the New NRA and a Board Member, I will bring information and proposals to the table. I will help rebuild the dignity and integrity of the organization through Op-eds and articles since I am known and published in most online news outlets.

As I move within the corridors of the US House and Senate, in the restaurants close by, and evening hangouts, I'm asked, where is the NRA? I am asked this same question by friends and family, by others on X who know of my past close working relationship with the NRA because of my 23 years as Executive  Director of The Law Enforcement Alliance Of America. I'm asked by many in law enforcement who know I wrote the original version of HR218, now the Law Enforcement Officers Protection Act (Law). The fact that the Carey Committee I work for, the League for Sportsmen, Law Enforcement and Defense, wrote an Amicus Curiae Brief in support of Donald Trump in Colorado and assisted with several other briefs, I felt alone. Only a few other small organizations and supporters of the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the Second Amendment have been standing alone in the last few years without the clout of our usually inexorable big brother, the NRA.

As a Director, I will ensure that we watch members' money and that exorbitant salaries and perks are closely monitored. My job as a Director will be to help re-establish the Nation Rifle Association as the number one  Constitutional watchdog protecting our society from any attempt by the left to deteriorate our rights as a society and a country as envisioned by our forefathers."

James Fotis served for fourteen years as a Police Officer for the Lynbrook, New York Police Department, retiring due to job-related injuries as the highest-decorated officer in the department’s history. He holds a Master’s Degree in Industrial Psychology/Professional Studies and a Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Science/Criminal Justice.

He served over twenty-three years as the Executive Director of the Law Enforcement Alliance of America (LEAA), an association of law enforcement officers, crime victims, and concerned citizens. During his tenure, LEAA became a serious influence in the law enforcement community, on Capitol Hill, and within the Executive Branch of government. Mr. Fotis appeared on hundreds of TV and radio programs as a commentator on sensitive issues ranging from gun control to international terrorism.

Mr. Fotis was the impetus behind “the Police Officers Safety Act (more commonly known as HR218)”, which he wrote in 1993 and was sponsored by Representatives Duke Cunningham (R, California) and Ralph Hall (D, Texas). HR 218 was signed into law by President Bush in July 2004.
