"NRA was originally founded in 1871 to promote training and competition. Later, a third added mission was defending the Second Amendment. I have voiced a need to focus on these three core missions as a foundational part of NRA 2.0. Having been a multi-discipline Instructor and Training Counselor for many years, I have personally worked with several thousand new gun owners. Often the first face of the NRA, trainers play an important role in representing our organization. Competition hones important shooting skills, and we must embrace it - and cannot leave it behind. We must also support our state associations as they are the front line for NRA programs in each state. With NRA 2.0, it's time to focus on our member's needs and fulfill our core missions. "
